Following are some of the highlights of Armando Barbosa's career leading up to the founding Vision Mortgage Company, Ltd.:

	1979 to 1981 Mason-McDuffie Mortgage Corporation Residential Loan Originator.
	1981 to 1983 Banco Mortgage Company, now Norwest Mortgage Corporation Residential Loan Originator.
	1983 to 1985 International Mortgage Corporation/K & B Corporation Branch Manager.
	1985 to 1988 Alamo Investment Company (acquired by Great Central Mortgage Company) Branch Manager. Supervised retail and correspondent origination activities. Focused on builder development when acquired by Great Central Mortgage Company.
	1988 to 1994 Associates National Mortgage Company (acquired by Independence One Mortgage) Director of Builder Lending, Senior Loan Officer. Maintained builder accounts, developed interim loan programs and criteria for builder interim lending.
	1994 to 1997 Old Kent Mortgage Company Senior Loan Officer. Responsibilities included new home builder and REALTOR® account development, customer-direct seminars, program development, training production personnel, and personal residential loan production. Primary activities involved the sourcing of business through new home builders in the San Antonio and surrounding metropolitan areas. Approximately 75% of residential loan production involved new construction utilizing the principal s the One-Time Close Construction Permanent loan program. The remaining production was derived from REALTORS® and customer referrals. Armando also at this time developed a number of customer-direct seminars that attracted hundreds of potential home buyers to a variety of gatherings. Sessions included "First Time Home Buyer" program, "Crippled Credit" program, and the most successful program entitled "Building and Financing Your Custom Home".

I was selected by the San Antonio Sales and Marketing Council of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association as the 1997 Mortgage Loan Originator of the Year. They presented me with the coveted Eagle award during their recent ceremony. This marks the second time (the first in 1991) that I have received this honor.

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer, a contractor, of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. We would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back. You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. "Life is a do-it-yourself project," someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow.
